History

1984, after sailing experience as an officer and a captain with respectable German shipping companies, Captain Jörg Köpping took the chance to become independent. With his first second-hand containership, named after his hometown RENDSBURG, he laid the foundation for the Reederei Jörg Köpping.
Because of continuous investments in second-hand vessels, but also in newbuildings, the Köpping fleet continued to expand to the size it has today. Until now twelve vessels have been put into service during the company’s history. Part of the fleet has already been sold successfully.
The Reederei Jörg Köpping has close business relations and contacts with yards, banks, suppliers, insurance companies, charterers and shipbrokers.
First goal of the Reederei Jörg Köpping is the commercial success of the shipping corporations.
More and more Charterers ask for a proof of a quality assurance system before placing their orders. Therefore the Reederei Jörg Köpping and their ships are ISM (International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention) certified by Germanischer Lloyd since 1998.
For improving and maintaining the existing safety and quality standards money is continuously invested in crew members, especially in the area of training. Regular safety trainings onboard are held and only modern and proven technology is in use on deck, on the bridge and in the engine room.
